Common Household Bugs That May Infest Your Home Before You Know It – Part 1

Pests That Our Exterminators Face Most Often

In this post, you will be able to find out more about the characteristics of some common house bugs that our expert exterminators have to eliminate on a daily basis. If you are interested in discovering their weak spots and learning how to easily get rid of them, read on!

  • House centipede. It is between 1” and 2” long and has a brown body which consists of many segments. Its legs are very long, and this is what makes them easy to distinguish from other bugs which may be hiding in the damp spaces around your home. It does not bite and immediately hides when you disturb it.
  • Silverfish. It has a creepy appearance and looks a lot like the venomous centipedes but luckily, it is quite different (much smaller to start with). It does not carry diseases and does not bite humans. These creatures forage at night and prefer to hide well during daytime. They live in hot areas with a lot of moisture like attics and kitchen spaces, for instance. They usually breed in linen closets, storage boxes, books, and cause great damage by eating paper (including wallpaper) and your food.
  • Grasshoppers. They are also known as Cicadas and are 1” to 3” long. Their colors may vary from light green to yellow, but their wings are quite colorful. They appear during the warm months and infest mainly gardens, fields, and meadows. You will easily notice their presence around your property when you hear the specific noise which they produce when they rub their legs together. They can destroy your crops if you do not take action towards exterminating them before their population grows.
